to Houston and back, 2010: day 1
Tonight we're staying at the Candlewood Suites in Hattiesburg on our way to Houston for the HPSS 8.1 design meeting.
We left Oak Ridge about 7:15 am (Eastern time) this morning and arrived in Hattiesburg about 3:00 pm (Central time -- 4:00 pm Eastern) this afternoon.
One reason for stopping in Hattiesburg was to scout the Longleaf Trace for a potential future bike ride.
On the front of our electronic hotel room keycard, there's a logo that invites the guest to visithattie.com, a nice site offering tourism information about Hattiesburg. I poked around there, looking for info on the trail and look what I found! A site specifically about the trail: http://www.mylongleaftrace.com/
With pictures.
And a map showing where the trail passes through Sumrall, Bassfield, and Carson before reaching Prentiss, along with distances.
Here's a page that gives the distances in an easier-to-read format (you have scroll down a bit to see the table of distances).
