Silver Comet Trail: Rambo Road to Rockmart (Day 2)

Sally and Karen are sitting at the Rambo Road trailhead, ready to go. You can see my bike's shadow in the lower right corner of the picture. We got started about quarter to nine in the morning.

Heading west from Rambo Road, the surroundings are very rural. There are no official trailheads or amenities for about 11 miles, until you get to Coot's Lake. Near the line between Paulding and Polk counties, we saw some interesting birdhouses someone had put up.






There were quite a number of underpasses.






And even a tunnel or two



I got several pictures of my thumb with various backgrounds.






After pedaling 11 miles, we arrived at Coot's Lake. I broke all the rules of photography and had Sally and Karen stand with their backs to the sun (so their faces are shaded and difficult to see) for a picture.

It wasn't really that blurry.

After riding a smidgeon over fifteen miles, we rolled into Rockmart.



Rockmart has a nice park along the creek with an activities building and restrooms. It's very nice. We heard that there's a nice Italian restaurant in Rockmart but we didn't take the time to find it. After a fifteen minute rest or so, we headed back out on the trail.

As we were leaving Rockmart, I noticed this sign:



In case the picture is hard to read, it says, "REMOTE AREA! Do you have... water? cell phone? sunscreen? buddy?" We did, so we proceeded and saw everything in reverse order all the way back to Rambo Road and the trucks.
