GTTC: Day 9
Not quite as early a start this morning, but still before 7:00.
Early morning Nevada landscape:

Can you read the sign in the picture below? It's for two places off this exit -- "Deeth" and "Starr Valley". We read it as indicating "Deeth Starr Valley", like the "death star" weapon from the movie Star Wars.

This one points to a place called Oasis:

And here's the Oasis:

Most of the rest of these are shots of Utah landscape:

Most of the I-80 corridor in Utah runs through a narrow valley with steep hills on both sides.

You can see a lot of stratification in the rock.

The vegetation is sparse.

I read somewhere long ago that diagonal lines add drama and action to a photograph. So I tried it out. What do you think?

And this is the welcome sign for Wyoming.

Now we're in our hotel in Rawlins, Wyoming, looking out the window at a lovely sunset.
Tomorrow, we'll leave the interstate for a while to find our way to Devil's Tower National Monument in the northeast corner of Wyoming. We'll also pass close to Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse memorial on Thursday and are debating whether to stop and visit those.
Will Tom and Karen survive Devil's Tower? Will they stop to visit Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse memorial? Stay tuned to find out.
